This month’s tasting events are all about the spice of life – variety! The lineup (identical for all three locations) offers a first taste of Montejo – Anheuser-Busch InBev’s first imported Mexican lager – plus four ales and a cider. We hope you’ll grab your friends and join us for a night of good drinks and good times.

Read on for full details on each selection:

Montejo – Brewed in Mexico and imported to the United States, Montejo is made using a time-honored recipe and storied Mexican brewing traditions. The result is a bright, smooth and full-flavored lager with a crisp finish. Anheuser-Busch’s introduction of Montejo marks the first time this regional beer has been available to drinkers outside of Mexico.

Saint Arnold Icon Gold – Mandarina Wheat – This golden slightly hazy beer has a nice creamy head with a lightly fruity aroma. The taste starts with a light hoppy bitter that carries through to the finish although never coming on too strong. The wheat malt provides a soft body that complements the hops while remaining light. The beer is highly refreshing with a nice hop finish that makes you want another sip.

Karbach Karbachtoberfest – An authentic, Bavarian-style Marzen, this brew is created with mashed Vienna and Munich malts, then cold fermented and aged for six weeks to create its impressive rounded malt character. With a clear amber pour and foamy, off-white head, this brew gives off an aroma full of toffee and caramel notes. You’ll also note hints of earth and grass entwined with its extremely malty smell.

Shock Top Pumpkin Wheat – This traditional Belgian-style wheat ale fully captures all the flavors of fall. The ale is brewed with ripe pumpkins and a variety of autumnal spices including nutmeg, cinnamon and cloves to create a refreshingly smooth mouthfeel.

Woodchuck Hopsation – This hop-forward cider has the pine and citrus aromas of cascade hops. Woodchuck’s classic, crisp apple taste combines with the bitterness of hops to create a semi-dry style, perfect to enjoy year round.

Paulaner Oktoberfest Wiesn – The majestic deep golden color is the first hint that one must try this beer. Earthy aromas of barley and yeast ease the drinker into the centuries old art of German Brewing. Highly drinkable and once only available in the tents of the Munich Oktoberfest, one can now enjoy the tradition of Oktoberfest in their own home.

Good things are in store for you this Thursday, Pint Jockeys!

Pint Jockeys like beer

Summer is in full swing and our June tasting events are celebrating the season!

Texas City – you’ll be mingling with Pedernales Brewing Co. founder Lee Hereford while tasting five different selections from his portfolio.

Victoria and Beaumont – you’ll get to taste some special and limited releases that you DON’T want to miss.

All tastings are free and open to adults 21. Events take place this Thursday, June 19th from 5-7PM at the Del Papa Distribution Centers in Beaumont, Victoria and Texas City (addresses at the bottom of this post).

Let’s cut to the chase shall we? Your full tasting lineups are below:

TEXAS CITY

Pedernales logo

Classic Hefe-Weizen – This classic unfiltered beer stays true to the Bavarian style with a strict yeast strain creating distinctive flavors of banana, apricot and clove. Light, cloudy and golden in color, this brew boasts a thick, frothy head and has received top marks at the Great American Beer Festival in Denver, CO.

Lobo Lito – A full bodied, true Reinheitsgebot quality Pilsner beer made using Pilsner malt barley, Weihensteffan yeast, Saaz hops and Hill County well water. Its slightly lower alcohol content and thirst quenching, slightly hoppy finish make it the perfect summer-time beer.

Lobo Lager – This pilsner beer starts with Texas Hill Country well water and Czech hops. Brilliantly crisp and clear with a dense foam, light golden color and subtle hop aroma. The flavor is a delicate balance of expertly malted barley and carefully selected hops.

Lobo Negro – A true “Dunkel,” or dark brown lager, with a spicy maltiness that is neither sweet nor too roastily dry. The lager yeast is worked at low temperatures, imparting a clean roundness and balance.

Classic India Pale Ale – The brilliantly clear, light copper color of this classic English beer denotes the specialized caramel malt used to give the ale a light toasted flavor. Classic NW American hops are used to balance the malty sweetness of the barley to provide a wonderful herbal aroma from this well balanced beer.

VICTORIA AND BEAUMONT

Firestone Walker logo

Firestone Walker Easy Jack – Newly available on the Texas Gulf Coast, Easy Jack is a Session IPA, dry hopped with a globetrotting selection of new hop varieties from Europe, New Zealand and North America. The beer delivers massive hop aromas and Firestone Walker’s signature malt balance.

saint arnold

Saint Arnold 20th Anniversary Ale – The Barleywine is a celebration in itself. It pours a deep burgundy-brown color with a tan, creamy head. The spicy nose is filled with malt and alcohol with citrus hop notes while toffee and caramel flavors mingle. The balance is just right, with the malt and hops “tingling” together in unison from start to finish. There’s a slight, lingering dry bitter that stays with you but still complements the sweetness from the all malt grain bill.

Saint Arnold Endeavour (in new 12 oz. bottle) – Endeavour brew pours a deep amber with a light, creamy head that is only the start to an extremely satisfying double IPA experience. The nose starts off with a touch of citrus, but then takes a turn into a flavor full of nectar and peaches. The hop bitter is quiet at the start, building to a much more impactful crescendo while maintaining a delicate balance even in its big finish.

Rahr & Sons logo

Rahr & Sons Texas Red – Texas Red is an amber lager with an extremely well-balanced flavor. The notes of caramel and its sound malt character are perfectly complemented with just a hint of hops. This beer is super-smooth and drinkable, making it the perfect refresher for the hot Texas summer days ahead.

Woodchuck

Woodchuck Cider Summer Limited Release – The sounds of the lapping lake-shores, the mountain views, and memories of fresh picked blueberries, now in a convenient six-pack. Exhibiting a slight tartness, this cider begins with a full, robust flavor followed by a rich summertime taste.

Rolling Rock

Rolling Rock (in 16 oz. can) – Brewed with a time-honored recipe and only the finest malted barley and hops, Rolling Rock is a classic American lager that’s well-known for its distinctive, full-bodied taste.
