Texas City event to feature all-Saint Arnold lineup, while Victoria and Beaumont’s roster includes favorites from Karbach, Saint Arnold and Texas BIG Beer

What an evening we have planned for you this Thursday, Pint Jockeys! In Texas City, we’ll have an all-Saint Arnold tasting followed by a Saint Arnold pint night at Brews Brothers in Galveston and a #Shocktober takeover at T-Bone Toms in Kemah! Victoria’s #Shocktober takeover event will be at Drifters[AP1]  and the Beaumont #Shocktober event will be at Buffalo Wild Wings. Be sure and wear your ORANGE!

Check out the Texas City lineup, below:

Saint Arnold Fancy Lawnmower – This beer is crisp and refreshing, with a sweet, malty body balanced by a complex citrus hop character. The brew is light enough to be enjoyed by Texans after even the most strenuous of activities, like mowing the lawn.

Saint Arnold Santo – Saint Arnold considers Santo a “black Kölsch.” Brewed using a Kölsch recipe with the addition of Munich and black malts, it is both light bodied and floral with a distinct malt flavor.

Saint Arnold Amber – This is a well-balanced, full-flavored amber ale. It has a rich, malty body with a pleasant caramel character derived from a specialty Caravienne malt. Its light fruitiness, characteristic of ales, is derived from a proprietary yeast strain.

Saint Arnold Icon Gold – Icon Gold is part of Saint Arnold’s Icon Series, which consists of specialty brews only released for three months at a time. This is a Bière de Saison with a complex, spicy nose and notes of brown sugar and plum. Its taste starts with a big, spicy malt , moves to fruity in the middle and finishes with earthy, spicy flavors.

Saint Arnold Christmas Ale – This rich, hearty ale is perfect for the holiday season, with a malty sweetness and spicy hop character. It pairs well with many of your favorite holiday eats including fruit cake, Christmas pudding and giant draft cup pint jockeyssquash bisque.

Saint Arnold Elissa IPA – A traditional IPA, this beer is very hoppy with a properly balanced, malty body. Its huge hop additions in the kettle give it a wonderful bitterness and it is dry hopped in the fermenter to create its pleasant, hoppy nose.

Saint Arnold Endeavour – This double IPA is a deep amber color with a light, creamy head. The taste starts off with a creamy malt and the hop bitter starts low, building to a crescendo but always maintaining balance – even in its big finish. You’ll taste citrus and peach notes throughout.

Saint Arnold Pumpkinator – Perfect for October, this imperial pumpkin stout is Saint Arnold’s answer to how a pumpkin beer ought to taste. This year’s version comes in at 10% ABV, and is crafted to make you feel like you just walked into your mom’s kitchen while she was cooking 37 pumpkin pies.


We have quite the lineup for you in Victoria and Beaumont as well! Get ready for:

Karbach Weekend Warrior – This American Pale Ale is brewed with Cascade hops, pouring a cloudy orange with a medium, frothy head. The aroma is heavy on the hops and pine scents and the flavor is packed with grapefruit, citrus and pine notes. The taste is smooth and the finish can’t be beat.

Karbach Krunkin’ Pumpkin – This seasonal beer has an outstanding flavor that’s neither too pumpkin nor spice-heavy. It pours a deep, dark brown with toast and spice aromas. Krunkin’ Pumpkin is extremely smooth with an extremely satisfying finish that will make you wish fall could last forever.

Saint Arnold Pumpkinator – Perfect for October, this imperial pumpkin stout is Saint Arnold’s answer to how a pumpkin beer ought to taste. This year’s version comes in at 10% ABV, and is crafted to make you feel like you just walked into your mom’s kitchen while she was cooking 37 pumpkin pies.

Sierra Nevada Narwhal Imperial Stout – Narwhal Imperial Stout is inspired by the mysterious creature that thrives in the deep Atlantic Ocean. Featuring a deep malt flavor profile with notes of espresso, baker’s cocoa, roasted grain and a light hint of smoke, this brew is a massive malt-monster. Tasters will enjoy its velvety smooth body and decadent finish.

Texas BIG Beer Beeriac IPA – This IPA is packed with hops. Full of citrusy and piney flavors, you’ll also notice a hint of caramel sweetness as it goes down. With a medium mouthfeel and medium carbonation, Beeriac is extremely drinkable for such a heavy IPA.

Southern Star ProAm – This year’s Southern Star Brewing Co. PromAm is an Irish-style Red Ale by 2010 competition winner Ed Condon of Houston, Texas. Southern Star just introduced this truly original ale, dominated by rye and caramel tastes with additional spice and distinct stone fruit flavors.

Shock Top Belgian White Ale – Shock Top shakes up traditional tastes with this spiced Belgian-style wheat ale, made with real orange, lemon, lime peels and a little coriander for an extra kick.

This week’s pick is Karbach’s Krunkin Pumpkin

Karbach Krunkin' Pumpkin

October is right around the corner and we all know what that means: cooler temps, football games and fantasy leagues, Halloween parties and pumpkins everywhere. And while we know you’re no stranger to pumpkin-infused beers, we’re confident that you’ve never had one quite like Karbach Brewing Company’s Krunkin’ Pumpkin.

This beer pours a gorgeous dark amber color with a foam head that dissipates relatively quickly with light to medium carbonation. The aroma is heavy on pumpkin scents, but you’ll also pick up traces of cinnamon, nutmeg, clove, ginger and allspice. The mouthfeel is smooth and the taste is more complex than that of many other pumpkin ales.

Upfront, you’ll notice a bread-like yeast presence with tinges of caramel sweetness. As you continue to sip, you’ll pick up a decent hop presence with dark and roasted tones. Some earthy and slightly bitter spice and malty flavors produce an almost rum-like sweetness. The finish gives way to woody, earthy notes with strong vanilla flavors accompanied by more allspice, pumpkin and spice notes.

While this is an almost 8% beer, it is highly drinkable due to its nice malty sweetness and wood notes. The pumpkin is the star here, but it doesn’t crowd the stage. All flavors are well-balanced, never overwhelming one another.
